WHAT TO DO IN A DENTAL EMERGENCY

Then, our team of professionals may walk you through steps you can take to get comfortable or reduce risks until you are able to get into the office. Here are a few tips and tricks for common dental emergencies:

• Knocked-out adult tooth – keep the tooth moist by either placing it back into the socket without touching the root or put is in a glass of milk. Bring the tooth to the dental office to see if it can be reattached by our team.
• Cracked/broken tooth – immediately use warm water to rinse and clean the area and hold a cold compress to the face to reduce any swelling until you can get into the dental office.
• Soft tissue damage – in most cases in which the tongue has been bit or the gum tissues have been cut, it is safe to clean and rinse the area with water before applying a cold compress to the face.
• Toothaches – avoid using a medication such as aspirin directly on the tooth or gum tissues. Use dental floss to remove any food that may be caught between the teeth and contributing to the discomfort. Rinse the mouth with warm water.
